The original Swiss vineyard work and wine making continues to be cultivated with the utmost care: most work is still done by hand. However, time doesn’t stand still. New sorts of grapes that are turned into specialty wines and the traditional wines such as the classic Chasselas (of excellent quality) are served in the three lakes countryside.
One wine making area especially worth a visit is the Vully region near Lake Murten. Picturesque wine growing villages and charming wine cellars await your discovery. |

Typical Swiss Restaurants |
|
The Lake Murten region is located on the language border in western Switzerland. Travelers in Switzerland not only discover the typical regional architecture, but also the special regional gastronomy culture.
The rich soil provides for an extraordinary variety in farming within a very small area. Regional products are plentiful on the serving platter: be it fresh fish from the lake or just harvested vegetables from the Great Marshland area, fine cheeses or creatively presented desserts, along with abundant ripe “Seeland” fruit to round off the meal.
Many Lake Murten restaurant names are fine examples of how the French and German cultures intertwine. Perhaps one day you’ll visit the “Bears” restaurant, or go for a treat in the “Pike” restaurant, or another time you’ll have a coffee at the “Swiss” restaurant and in the evening linger at the “Port” restaurant. However, all these restaurants do have something in common: coziness and excellent personal service! So, enjoy your meal! |

Leisure time and vacation time beckon you both in and out of the water. After a sunny moment on the Pantschau harbor area, have a beach volleyball party or play “boccia” and why not a round of mini golf, too.
By the way, many national and international sports competitions take place in the Lake Murten region over the entire summer. To find out more, check the local calendar of events. |

The Lake Murten climate is mild and very sunny. Recent winter seasons have been cold and crisp with very little fog; so that the Wine Path is great for a stroll also on cooler days. The winter brings a contemplative atmosphere to the lake region, while in autumn and spring, the winds clear the air for exceptional visibility of the rich landscape. The view on the Alps and the southern shore of Lake Murten are particularly impressive. Come and enjoy the view!
